For those people who live on the very edge of the body mod subculture, tattoos and body piercings, however edgy, may become passe sometime soon. For the hard core crowd, therefore, eye jewelry may become the next frontier in cosmetic body modification.
Since 2004, eye surgeons at the Netherlands Institute for Innovative Ocular Surgery have been implanting a tiny pieces of jewelry called a “JewelEye” under the surfaces of eyes.
The procedure involves inserting a 3.5 mm (0.13 inch) wide piece of specially developed jewelry (the range includes a glittering half-moon or heart) into the eye’s sclera. The implant is made of platinum and it can be molded in all kinds of desired shapes and sizes.
Check out the video to see how the scary procedure is done. Be warned that the video is very graphic.

Each One Weirder Than the Last Tattoos
Each One Weirder Than the Last Tattoos

On the hunt for unique tattoo ideas we found one of the strangest tattoo trends ever… jackalope tattoos. Jackalopes are imaginary hybrids of jackrabbits and antelope that originate from North American folklore. Jackelopes are usually the subject of a kitschy artwork in novelty stores, especially in Western United States. The entire idea of a made up animal like the jackelope inspires strange stories and adaptions so it’s really no wonder that it also inspired so many weird tattoos.

Two Jackalopes Tattoo
You’d have to be pretty into jackalopes to want two of them tattooed to you.

Realistic Jackalope Tattoo
This jackalope tattoo looks official… as if it was a mascot or state animal or something.

Cartoon Jackalope Tattoo
Even though they are cartoony, this is what we imagine jackalope’s to be like… timid and doe-eyed.

Realistic Jackalope Wall Mount Tattoo
This looks like it adds moose to the mix of animals it’s supposed to look like.

Creepy Jackalope Tattoo
Yikes, check out that tongue.

Jackalope Wall Mount Tattoo
Another jackalope trophy tattoo, but this time a lot meaner looking.

Rabid Jackalope Tattoo
Kill it with fire!

Stuffed Jackalope Wall Mount Tattoo
Kind of reminds us of this.

Vicious Stuffed Jackalope Tattoo
It may be purple and have quilted ears, but it’s still pretty gnarly.

Three-Eyed Jackalope Tattoo
Okay, this is freaking us out… a jackalope with 3 red eyes?

Jackalope with Bat Wings Tattoo
Batalope?

Jackalope Chest Piece
Do you think this guy just walks around topless all day with that look on his face?

Jackalope with Crow Body Tattoo
Because a jackrabbit + an antelope isn’t weird enough for you… the Jack-crow-lope!

Jackalope with Bird Body Drinking Coffee Tattoo
Okay, now someone is messing with us… another jackalope with a bird body… drinking coffee?

Weird Face Wall Mount Jackalope Tattoo
And we saved the weirdest tattoo for last… We have no idea who that is supposed to be but this tattoo wins weirdest tattoo we’ve ever seen… by a long shot
