Meryl Streep lands first Vogue cover

Meryl Streep lands first Vogue cover

Meryl Streep lands first Vogue cover, Meryl Streep Lands First Vogue Cover – January 2012. Meryl Streep, 62, an award-winning actress who currently is starring in 'The Iron Lady,' a biopic about Margaret Thatcher, will grace the cover of fashion magazine Vogue in January. Earlier this year, Streep displayed her vast range for another coverThe actress is featured in the January 2012 issue of the magazine, and she looks great, simple and fresh.
Streep, who stars in the upcoming Margaret Thatcher biopic The Iron Lady, has never been on the cover of US Vogue before, which is an unfortunate occurrence that may or may not have something to do with her portrayal of high-powered fashion editor Anna Wintour Miranda Priestly in the 2006 movie The Devil Wears Prada.

Streep’s last Vogue experience was the May 2010 cover of Vogue Paris, and even then she had to share it with Penelope Cruz.

This cover is different from the last few ethereal, dark, high-fashion-mermaid-looking covers the magazine has put out over the past few months.

It’s all Meryl, almost completely unadorned, wearing a simple dress and a pair of gobstopper diamond earrings, sitting on the beach.

Maybe Vogue is getting a fresh, clean start for the new year? Maybe not.

December and January covers often go to actors who are campaigning for big awards nominations, which must mean that Streep’s crack team of publicists and promoters really want The Iron Lady to blow up big time.
